Tour Start Location - Henry Jones Art Hotel - 25 Hunter St Hobart

What can I expect from my guide?

An expert, qualified guide who is familiar with the local area and is also first-aid trained.
A ready smile, enthusiasm for walking and an extensive knowledge about the area.
A great story teller who can bring the history of Hobart alive.

What do I need to bring?

You only need to bring things for your own comfort while outdoors for 2-3 hours.
Hobart is well known for it’s glorious range of weather conditions – often on the same day – so check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.

Sunshine
For hot sunny days: hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and a water bottle are recommended.

Rain
Rain is not usually an issue as we are the second driest city in Australia. When it does rain, it’s often in short showers which we can manage with undercover stops. A rain jacket or umbrella is a good option just in case.
Our tours go ahead regardless of the weather. We do not cancel tours just because the weather looks interesting.

Stay Warm
Particularly with the afternoon tours, the temperature can drop toward evening so a jumper or jacket is suggested even if it’s quite warm to begin with. Generally a nice southerly breeze springs up to surprise the unwary – so a light windproof is useful.

Footwear
Comfortable walking shoes are essential. While there are a number of stops where you can sit down, you will still be on your feet for most of the time.

How hard are the walks?

Our city walks require a moderate level of fitness.
The distance covered over a typical walk is 3 km.
Usually the tours go for 2 hours, sometimes an extra 15 minutes, depending on the pace of the walkers.
There are regular spots to perch on a bench for a few minutes if you need to take the weight off.
There are a few stairs – 7 in one section. These can be avoided if required, so please tell the guide at the start of the tour.
If you have any mobility concerns, please contact us.

How many on a tour?

We have a minimum of 2 people on any of our tours – if you are on your own, contact us to find out about a tour to join.
In order to make sure our guests all have a great time, numbers on our regularly scheduled Group Tours have a maximum of 15.
We can easily accommodate up to 40-50 people for a special event tour as we have a good team of wranglers and tour guides who can assist with large groups.

Conference Activities & Tours

We specialise in providing custom tours and themed activities for conference participants and their partners. Options we provide to offer a premium experience include:

  • Tours designed into the conference time table – perfect as a ‘leg stretch’ opportunity to see the local area and hear about the Hobart’s fascinating history
  • Themed tours customised to match the conference topics
  • Delegate partner programs where we look after guests travelling with delegates but not attending the conference  – we can take them for a short tour , half day of activities or all look after them all day including transport to regional areas such as historic (and beautiful) Richmond.

Private tours

This is a great idea for celebrations, special focus tours, business trips, conferences or just because you would like to have your very own personal guide show you around Hobart.

All of our walking tours can be booked exclusively as a private tour or we can custom build a tour based on the things you want to see.

Not sure what you want? Give us a call and let us help you design the perfect tour.
